Tibetan exiles held torches as they took part in a protest against China in Kathmandu, Nepal on Sunday. As the 2008 Beijing Olympic torch starts its assent of Mount Everest next month, Nepal has given its security personnel permission to shoot pro-Tibet demonstrators. Security personnel will also check mountain climbers for ‘non-essential expedition materials,’ and if found with anti-Chinese material, will have their climbing permit revoked. For the past month Nepalese police have arrested pro-Tibetan protesters in front of the Chinese Embassy and the United Nations offices.
